![]() ![]() Will definitely travel with Passions again in the future and i highly recommmend them! This is an all day tour - arrive at the dock at 730am for an 8am take off and you return to the dock about 5pm ish. I also hired the underwater camera they offer - i don't think i'd do that again as they were very disappointing photos. We hired wetsuits whicxh we were grateful for - we were told the water was warm (26 deg) but that actually isn't warm and we got cold even wearing the wetsuits so i'm really glad we hired them. There was a floating ring for anyone who was too scared to snorkel on their own which i think is great. The second dive spot, Paradise Reef, was also lovely and although i was scared when snorkeling around and seeing the edge of the reef where it drops off into the deep, vast ocean, i just stayed with the reef and got to see some fascinating marine life. The weather was superb - 30 degrees and sunny and calm.the trip out to the reef was very enjoyable. Over the course of the day,the food was plentiful and even though the boat was full, i didn't feel crowded. She was patient and full of praise and never got cross when i did the wrong thing! We went to Michaelmas Cay first and that was superb - clear and full of beautiful fish and my dream to see a turtle was fulfilled! We snorkeled after the dive and had a rest on the island. My partner and i decided to do the scuba dive and boy was that a good decision! I actually decided against it at the last moment - during my 10min trial - but the crew member with me - Elle i think- wouldn't have a bar of it and encouraged me to give it a go. They were young and energetic, helpful and knowledgeable. I am pleased to say that all the crew on the boat were of the same calibre too. ![]() I decided to visit some companies face to face and see what seemed the best one.well Passions of Paradise won hands down.the brochure appealed to me and the lady at the desk was just wonderful.she answered every question i had and could not have been more attentive. A great job, a fab day and that is why we highly recommend Passions of Paradise.įREE – Glass Bottom Boat tour – valued at $18.00 for all East Coast Car Rentals who prebook their day on the reef with Passions of Paradise using the form below (will be required to show proof of rental on day).I was very overwhelmed with the vast choices of Reef Tour Operators and, despite doing thorough research, still hadn't chosen a company by the time i arrived in Cairns. Big smiles, lots of interaction with all the guests on board and even the odd magic trick. Breaching the waters surface and splashing around with their majestic tails it was all hands to cameras as the Skipper dropped the sails and allowed us to drift along and watch them for as long as they were in viewable range.Īs good as all of this was, what really made the day was the attitude of the Passions Crew. Now you probably think this already sounds like a marvelous day, but whilst ‘sailing’ back we spotted some Dolphins before sighting a pod of migrating Humpback Whales. From the stories on board I think there will be a few people looking to do a dive course after this trip! Many on board took their second dive of the day, whilst those who were not certified were given the opportunity to experience Scuba Diving with a fully supervised Introductory Dive. Next up was a small Stingray, numerous species of fish and then, much to the delight of the overseas tourist swimming beside me, I found Nemo (Clown Fish).Īfter a bountiful hot and cold lunch, including prawns, we travelled 10 minutes to our second dive site, giving everyone the chance to experience a different aspect of the reef. It allowed me to approach and gently touch its slippery shell. We were transferred to the Cay (a preserved bird sanctuary) in the glass bottom boat and within minutes of entering the water I came across my first turtle, sunbathing in the shallows. As a qualified Open Water Diver and having dived on the reef many times over the years, I opted to just snorkel on this trip, knowing that I would still be able to get up close and personal with the marine life. After motoring out to Michaelmas Cay we quickly moored and the fun began. This particular writer has just returned from a holiday in Cairns and spent a wonderful day out with the Passions crew. Their large crusing Catamaran, friendly staff and fabulous exclusive moorings mean that your reef experience will be one you will be talking about for many years to come. Passions of Paradise offers one of best ways to experience the Great Barrier Reef. FREE Glass Bottom Boat tour – valued at $18.00 pp ![]()
