![]() ![]() The next couple of days they barcode scanner is missing and they attendants say I will have to wait a couple minutes while they write my name and barcode down in order to check me in, which seems like a manufactured inconvenience. I say this exactly why I don't want it, She finally relents and says all members are welcome to continuing using their phone number or barcode clip for as long as they want and walks me back to the attendant who bring the bar code scanner from under the counter and lets me check in. When I ask here if this will mean I can use my palm print at Whole Foods now as they have implemented this same system, she excitedly confirms this is true. She claims it will be only for this club. When I say it is very easy now and I don't want to give them this personal information. A manager, most likely a regional executive manager comes over and tries to convince me that I should do it as it will make it very easy. ![]() When I express defiantly that I am not comfortable providing them with my bio-metrics, and this was not part of the deal when I signed up for the gym. One morning I show up to work out, and when I am trying to check in I see that the bar code reader is gone and the attendant says I must provide my hand print to the Amazon One system. An example of this behavior is how they have implemented Amazon One ( palm identification reader). I believe this ethos stems from the executive management and is defused through out the organization. The managers treat gym members like a commodity. ![]()
